SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

Operator Protection

Engineering control of operator exposure must be used where reasonably practicable in addition to the following personal protective equipment.

WEAR SUITABLE PROTECTIVE CLOTHING(COVERALLS) AND SUITABLE PROTECTIVE GLOVES when handling the concentrate.

WEAR SUITABLE PROTECTIVE GLOVES when handling contaminated surfaces.

However, engineering controls may replace personal protective equipment if they provide an equal or higher standard of protection.

WHEN USING DO NOT EAT, DRINK OR SMOKE.

WASH ALL PROTECTIVE CLOTHING thoroughly after use, especially the insides of gloves.

AVOID ALL CONTACT WITH SKIN.

WASH SPLASHES from skin and eyes immediately.

DO NOT BREATHE SPRAY.

WASH HANDS AND EXPOSED SKIN before eating, and drinking and after work.

ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

Do not contaminate water with the product or its container. Do not clean application equipment near surface water. Avoid contamination via drains from farmyards and roads.

STORAGE AND DISPOSAL

KEEP IN ORIGINAL CONTAINER, tightly closed, in a safe place.

WASH OUT CONTAINER THOROUGHLY, empty washings into spray tank and dispose of safely.

DO NOT RE-USE CONTAINER FOR ANY PURPOSE.

THIS MATERIAL AND ITS CONTAINER MUST BE DISPOSED OF IN A SAFE WAY.

USE APPROPRIATE CONTAINMENT to avoid environmental contamination.

KEEP AWAY FROM FOOD, DRINK AND ANIMAL FEEDING STUFFS.

KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

IMPORTANT: This information is approved as part of the Product Label. All instructions within this section must be read carefully in order to obtain safe and successful use of this product.

RESTRICTIONS

THE PRODUCT must not be applied to any crop suffering from stress as a result of drought, water-logging, low temperature, pest or disease attack, nutrient deficiency, soil compaction or other factors reducing crop growth.

Do not use THE PRODUCT on crops undersown with grasses, clover or other legumes or any other broad-leaved crop.

Because some non-target crops are highly sensitive to THE PRODUCT, avoid damage by drift onto broad-leaved plants outside the target area, or onto surface waters or ditches. Thorough cleansing of equipment is also very important – see separate section.

Do not apply within seven days of rolling the crop.

Contract agents should be consulted before using on crops grown for seed.

Refer to 'Compatibility' for details on use of THE PRODUCT with other 'ALS inhibiting' herbicides.

WEED CONTROL

THE PRODUCT inhibits weed growth within hours of treatment, thus preventing competition

with the crop. Many weeds show marked colour changes as they die back after treatment, but the time taken for these symptoms to appear and final death of the weed will vary according to species and weather conditions. THE PRODUCT has a short residual life in soil and, under normal moisture conditions, susceptible weeds germinating soon after treatment will be controlled.

Weed Resistance

When herbicides with the same mode of action are used repeatedly over several years in the same field, selection of resistant biotypes can take place. These can propagate and may become dominating. A weed species is considered resistant to a herbicide if it survives a correctly-applied treatment at the recommended dose. Development of resistance within a weed species can be avoided or delayed by alternating (or tank-mixing) with suitable products having a different mode of action. A strategy for preventing and managing resistance should be adopted.

VOLUME AND APPLICATION

BEFORE USING THE PRODUCT, SPRAYING EQUIPMENT MUST BE CLEAN AND FREE FROM CONTAMINATION WITH OTHER PESTICIDES. Application should be made in 200 - 400 litres of water per hectare using suitable ground equipment to give good spray cover of the weeds. The spray quality should be MEDIUM, applied at a pressure of 2 - 3 bar. When crops are thick or weed growth dense, use the higher volume.

When applying, THE PRODUCT care should be taken not to overlap spray swaths.

MIXING

Half-fill the spray tank with clean water. Commence agitation. Steadily add the recommended quantity of ALLY EXPRESS to the spray tank (pre-mixing is not necessary). Complete filling and maintain agitation of the suspension before and during spraying until the tank is empty.

COMPATIBILITY

To widen the spectrum of activity and improve the control of some weeds, THE PRODUCT may be applied with other herbicides, provided each product can be applied within the label recommendations for its use. Always add THE PRODUCT to the spray tank first when using in tank-mix.

CROPS

THE PRODUCT can be used on all varieties of winter wheat, winter barley, winter oats, spring wheat, spring barley, spring oats, durum wheat, triticale and transplanted rice fields between the growth stages given above. Under certain climatic, soil and crop conditions, some slight necrotic spotting of the crop may occur. Crops will quickly recover and there will be no effect on grain yield or quality.

CROP FAILURE

In the event of crop failure, for any reason, only winter wheat may be sown between one and three months after application of THE PRODUCT. Prior to resowing soil should be ploughed and cultivated to a depth of at least 15cm. After three months follow recommendations in the 'Following crops' section.

WARNING

EXTREME CARE SHOULD BE TAKEN TO AVOID DAMAGE BY DRIFT TO BROAD-LEAVED PLANTS OUTSIDE THE TARGET AREA OR ONTO PONDS, WATERWAYS OR DITCHES OR LAND INTENDED FOR CROPPING. SPRAYING EQUIPMENT SHOULD NOT BE DRAINED OR FLUSHED ONTO LAND PLANTED WITH OR INTENDED FOR PLANTING WITH TREES OR CROPS OTHER THAN CEREALS.

Spray tank clean-out

TO AVOID SUBSEQUENT DAMAGE TO CROPS OTHER THAN CEREALS, IMMEDIATELY AFTER SPRAYING THE PRODUCT THOROUGHLY CLEAN ALL SPRAY EQUIPMENT INCLUDING INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF LID USING ALL CLEAR EXTRA SPRAYER CLEANER ACCORDING TO THE LABEL INSTRUCTIONS.

1. Immediately after spraying, drain tank completely. Any contamination on the outside of the spraying equipment should be removed by washing with clean water.

2. Rinse inside of tank with clean water and flush through boom and hoses using at least one-tenth of the spray tank volume. Drain tank completely.

3. Half fill tank with clean water and add DuPont ALL CLEAR EXTRA at the recommended rate. Agitate and then flush the boom and hoses with the cleaning solution. Top up with water making sure the tank is completely full and allow to stand for 15 minutes with agitation. Again flush the boom and hoses and drain tank completely.

4. Nozzles and filters should be removed and cleaned separately with an ALL CLEAR EXTRA solution containing 50 ml of ALL CLEAR EXTRA per 10 litres of water.

5. Rinse the tank with clean water and flush through the boom and hoses using at least one-tenth of the spray tank volume. Drain tank completely.

6. Do not spray onto sensitive crop or land intended for cropping with sensitive crop.

NOTE: If it is not possible to drain the tank completely, step 3 must be repeated before going on to step 4.
